The policeman and the zombie

A Twitter post from Jackie at Amidon Studios that reads "I'm in Halloween mode all year long and by that I mean I turn into a brain-dead zombie when a native speaker talks to me"

I was once talking to a police officer in Tijuana about a taxi driver who tried to take advantage of me...

I was so focused on understanding everything he was saying in Spanish that at one point, my mind went blank.

He got mad and told me that I was obviously faking because I had understood everything else he'd said.

I was so scared he was going to arrest me because I had heard of people being thrown in jail for not paying taxi drivers.

I guess I really did turn into a brain-dead zombie for a second.

The zombie apocalypse

A zombie apocalypse breaks out, and the only way to survive is to speak Spanish.

You don’t speak it at all, but you must learn by midnight if you want any chance of making it.

The new job

You start a new job where all your coworkers only speak Spanish to each other, but you don’t understand anything.

You feel left out and too embarrassed to ask for help.

The nightmare

Your child struggles with Spanish, but you don’t know it yourself.

That night you have a nightmare. They're alone in a dark classroom, eyes pleading as Spanish fills the room.

You wake up realizing the scariest thing is not their struggle, but your inability to help.

The fiesta

At a fiesta, you stand alone as Spanish swirls all around you. You try to join in, but your words are met with silence.

You're trapped, unable to connect, a ghost in your own life.

The dream job

You watched your dream job go to someone else, all because you didn't speak Spanish.

You need to feel confident speaking Spanish in 90 days without taking our conversation classes and immersion events.
